I know it has been months-but here I am. I am 31 today! This is me on my fancy art date with my husband. We went to an art opening at the Riverside Art Museum for the Monothon. I am standing with my Monotype print that was selected for the show and silent auction. We also ate a an upscale resturant called Saffron. Totally out of our price range-but it was my birthday. At check time a member of our church and art patron had picked up the check! Happy Birthday to me! At the risk of sounding like a pastor's wife-God really provides for us! We are blessed.

My face painting skills

Look what I did! Agatha always pines over the $20 face painting masterpieces at Disneyland so I took a picture of the example last time and recreated it-glitter and all. I was quite proud and so was she-plus we didn't have to pay $20 for something that washes off or itches cause my kid has my sensitive skin. I love these face paints I found through a local chilren's museum. They are soap based, but not waxy-so they don't irratate and they don't smear. Have fun being the coolest and cheapest mom on the block. You can be your own party clown-without the nose.

Our Progress

Here is my new art studio...I mean our new garage. We still need to install the doors and window, run electrical and plumbing, nail up wood siding and paint it, but we have a building. I can't wait to have permanent space for printmaking! Woohoo!

Missing art

I miss creating art. I am a printmaker of mostly Monotype prints, but have worked in watercolor and acrylic over the years. I have my very own press and inks that I have tried in the past to set up in the corner of my small home, but with kids and various guests it has always been a challenge to keep it up. Plus, right now it is near impossible to get make-up on and keep up on laundry and vacuuming with my infant, four year old and part time job. So, I haven't worked since I was pregnant 6 or so months ago. This is a piece I displayed at the Riverside Art Museum, where I am member. I love being involved in art and the art community, but I am so out of it right now. I recently went to a LA Printmaker's Society and Jesus Cruz prints opening at RAM with the fam and popped into a Monotype seminar put on by my mentor Ron Pokrasso (that I would have attended had I not been in infancy confinement). I can feel myself getting anxious to work again. I know the time is coming, my little girl is only getting older and my soon-to-be-finished garage/art studio will be here (I hope) this Fall/Winter, but I miss art. I miss creating. I miss being in those moments of expression. Especially after the day I had yesterday!
